I don't understand why we're buy more F-15s instead of just more F-35s.

Overpriced would be the F-35. It makes absolutely NO sense that the Navy would purchase and deploy single engine aircraft from a carrier. If I'm a naval aviator I'm sure as hell gonna want a little redundancy built into the part of the aircraft that's gonna bring me home over tens of thousands of square miles of open water!

It's actually far far cheaper than any alternative. It's pretty much the air to air arsenal cart in an attack package.
