na apparently not. you are not making a team like catholic, west monroe, barbe, jesuit etc etc by playing aa ball. aa ball here is not good after age 10. gets really bad after 12, like really bad. the majors kids will be throwing 58-65 at 10, 60-70 at 11u, 68-75 at 12, 75+ at 13 where the AA kids may still be throwing 55 or below at 12u

So I take it your belief is that HS ball in LA is just on another level than OK. Owasso, Carl Albert, Deer Creek, Bixby, etc routinely go out of state and compete and are plenty successful.

Most of the guys on those teams were Majors and AAA players but not all. There are a good number of AA who do too. Also, being on a AA team doesn't preclude you from playing against AAA and Majors teams, just mainly precludes you from winning at a high clip.

i have no idea about ok baseball. but most of those schools i named plus sam houston are all nationally ranked in top 50. maybe im biased because of that as Im in LC area

i also have no idea how travel ball is in OK. we have played 1 team from there, they were really good though. majors team.

and yea if you are on a AA team playing higher level aaa and majors teams, thats different. dont see that often in LA at all.

im pretty familiar with texas hs baseball though and the travel scene there. I dunno how they do it in OK but Texas HS baseball has it figured out. They have freshman teams with 20-35 kids and let the kids develop after hitting puberty and some of them being exposed for the first time to higher level coaching and the weight room

unfortunately in LA we are a poor state so its not like that. the major HS programs take about 12 max and some years take less than 10. you can either play going into hs or you cant. puts a ton of pressure to develop early and lots of pressure on skill acquisition at an early age, more so that general physical development. it sucks but it is the way it is and why i say that its pretty much impossible to actually go in and play at one of these programs without at least seeing high level travel ball. im talking high level on the state level, not national level.

i mean its possible but you better have a parent who understand the importance of the metrics and better be chasing the metrics. but how many kids that have that are actually playing AA ball? not many.
