He is the most missed from last years team. I think Yeskie is fine, but unfortunately these guys have had a new pitching coach every year

Yet before the run in Omaha, many were doubting Wes. It’s the sport that requires the most patience and least overreaction.

He left the aggies their pitching improved.
the Aggies pitching staff broke the school single season strikeout record when Nate was the coach.

Losing Wes Johnson
He is the most missed from last years team.

A year ago from now, our pitching was really bad outside of almost everyone not named Paul Skenes. The difference is that last year we had the hitting to cover the bad pitching with a ton of runs. On May 14th of last year we blew a 9 run lead and gave up 14 earned runs to a shitty Miss State team. Our pitching improved once Wes Johnson accepted the UGA job and Jay Johnson got more involved with the pitching.

This is interesting (that Arkansas could pattern our pitch calls and batters knew what to expect). Surely we (pitch caller) should know better, right?

Was told something this week you guys may find interesting…According to DVH, they were able to pattern each starting pitcher for LSU last weekend. They’d verify the pattern of pitch calls over the first 2-3 innings to make sure they were correct, then let the batters know what to expect.

Not sure who calls you guys’ pitches, but on certain batters of ours they throw the same pitch call pattern each at bat.

Would not surpise me. I had a feeling when we played MSU that they knew what was coming half the time.

This x 100.

I'd also add that Garret was a nails before he got hurt which helped us win a few series. And if we somehow could have gotten Grant Taylor to stay would have been huge for this team right now.

I keep telling myself that outside of skenes, all the other pitchers started slow last year as well and were at peak performance come post season. Maybe, just maybe, Jay can do that again.
