A moonwatch is every bit as good of a chronograph IMO, with arguably more heritage and historical significance, for around half the cost and very attainable.

I really like the Omegas. Aesthetically I might even prefer them to the Rolex so it’s definitely something I am considering either in addition to or instead of.

to be honest there are better watches that can be had for the over retail Rolex in many

For heritage and workmanship, Breguet should be part of the Trinity and they're ridiculously underpriced.

There is also the Zenith chrono with the El Primero 36k movement that gives a true 1/10 of a second chronograph and if you want a panda the Tudor Black Bay Chrono is a great watch, 40% the retail of a Daytona and an excellent watch.

Since your attention is here....

Any thoughts on Tutima?

I'm very close to a M2 Seven Seas.

I'm searching for a Ti diver and prefer it over the Pelagos and to Sinn T50. Ok, I love the T50 but I keep reading the horror stories about the Ti not doing well with the captive bezel screws and I don't want to deal with that if it occurred.

I have never owned one but I think of them almost exactly like I think of Oris, a great watch with known quantity movements that are excellent values for the money. I really like the M2's bracelet. It stands out in a world of me too bracelets funny another German company has a similar bracelet and it is also on your shortlist.

The Sinn diver for me is the U1/U50 which just screams Sinn. Of course, it isn't Ti.

I just have a hard time putting money in a "value brand" Rolex, let alone anything. For the money I'd opt for Omega/Breitling IMO.

I can't buy into the hands, personally.

Which takes me to the Hydro series, then I just can't get behind me needing an oil filled case with a 715 quartz movement. Love quartz, but not in a 3k+ watch with or without oil filled technology.

Hence the T50. No oil filled quartz, no U50 condom hands, and titanium. Big fan, but the bezel issues concern me and I am kind of shocked they didn't apply the tegimented tech to the entire thing at almost 4k.

Enter: M2 Seven Seas

Thanks for your feedback.

A 5912 makes an appearance. With the very cool 240 PS movement sporting a micro-rotor!

I could understand this take with Tudor of old, where they essentially used everything from Rolex other than the movements, but Tudor of today has their own cases, dials, handsets, bracelets, and even their own in-house movement. Sure they share a history with Rolex but for example a Black Bay 58 isn’t a direct copy of a modern day sub.

It is hard for them to shake the albatross of being a poor man's Rolex when they actually were exactly that and it was what they were designed to be. Since their re-introduction to the US they have a full catalog of watches that can stand on their own.

Some do (Pelagos for example ) but the BB Chrono (which personally I think is more attractive than the Daytona) uses a Breitling B1 movement.

I'm sure they are fine timepieces.
