I'm happy to see something like this go through if it helps our program sell more concessions at athletic events.

Is this going to increase sales enough to offset the slower sales processing time? I'd be interested in seeing any data on this and if there are actual benefits.

Who knows, which is why I used the word "if".

I do know there were a ton of complaints the first year Cajun Field went to all cash at football games. However, like someone further up pointed out, that's something that should easily be resolved in a contract between the university and whomever they outsource the concessions management to.

The fact something like this apparently NEEDED to be legislated via a bill during session seems a bit peculiar. But hey, Governor Landry gets to show he did something!

Id argue that cash sales have a slower sales processing time than card.

Everyone went to cashless at events for 2 main reasons:

1. Theft
2. And no one wants to count shite tons of cash after an event.

But the biggest one is Theft. It might surprise people, but when you have hundreds of low paying jobs handling lots of cash, you end up having some workers steal it.

It also can slow everything down while people try to figure out how much change they need to give you, but that is further down the list because sometimes it takes credit cards a while to connect to the system.

I won’t speak to the college level, but at the HS level, profit margins go up when you eliminate cash transactions.
