As at 30 year Denver resident, Mike Johnson has done OK as mayor. I'd grade him a C-.

You have much lower standards than me. You're not doing an OK job unless you can score a B.

Fair enough. Not sure how you'd score that but OK
He's been average at best IMO. I don't think he's really messed anything up but he hasn't made any positive changes either
In my time here Hick and Wellington Webb were the best mayors
I doubt anyone really wants to argue Denver mayors though

Are you grading on curve? What's it take for someone to out and out fail in Denver?

Denver is no different than many parts of California. No matter how bad it gets as a result of betas like this guy enabling poor behavior, people will stay because of access to the Rockies and 300+ days of sunshine.

How about the mayor cutting social programs for actual residents of Denver instead of ending the city’s sanctuary city policies?

I have leftist family in Denver so if you’re anything like them, you’ll just make excuses and refuse to answer and maybe throw in some OMB.

What excuses am I making? What questions am I not answering? Be specific
I already gave him a C-. It's not a good score

This is Denver Metro. Not a single student is unable to get to class because of this. You're making things up

In a prior thread, you denied that programs were cut. Then I linked it for you. Then you bailed on the thread.

Talk about a Beta mayor

I’ll give him some credit for going out there without much security or uniformed police. He actually shut down a few of the people who interrupted him.

But I agree with what you’re saying.

That’s not some student protest from the 60’s. That is a collection of extremist and terrorist sympathizers who have zero respect for anything that doesn’t jive with their hyper partisan beliefs. Anybody who isn’t appalled by this behavior is beyond reason and isn’t to be taken seriously

How long have you lived there? Denver is about 10 years removed from its prime and is a total shithole that lost even its mountain access appeal because there’s too many people.

Just wait till the city reaps the benefits of the govt shifting police and other public funds to care for the excessive amounts of illegals.

I love how they act as if every single person that isn’t chanting along with them is a fascist who has the ability to personally end the war in Gaza, but chooses not to do so. All over a situation across the globe that affects their life on no way whatsoever. These people belong in an insane asylum.

IMO Denver does a pretty good job of taking care of our residents in need. Can you link me to Denver giving preferential treatment to illegals vs citizens?

I replied with the following info:

quote:

‘Difficult dilemma’ In 2022, Denver Health saw $125 million in "uncompensated care." Last year, it ballooned to $135 million. In 2020, the price of uncompensated care stood at $60 million. Federal regulations require hospitals to provide emergency care. Federico estimated that the bulk of the $10 million difference in uncompensated care between 2022 and 2023 was related to the influx of new immigrants using the health system. After losing $30 million in 2022, the health system anticipates breaking even in 2023, Federico said. “It’s a difficult dilemma of how we best meet their health care needs when health care has not been part of the equation,” Federico said. The surge in new immigrant patients from South and Central America equates to roughly 8,000 people and 20,000 visits, Federico said. Numbers like that — for an already strained health system emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic — is not sustainable, he said. “There’s going to be a point where the numbers make this very, very hard,” McCormick said. “We’re already past the breaking point, to a certain extent.”
