Makes it sound like they are going to hire Bill Laimbeer or Rick Mahorn as their color commentator.

TNT NBA host Ernie Johnson is not expected to leave his longtime employer in the event it loses rights to the NBA, per a report Thursday.
Tom Friend of Sports Business Journal reported Thursday that Johnson is expected to remain with Warner Bros. Discovery in the event that the company loses rights to the NBA. The Wall Street Journal reported this week that Comcast is willing to bid upwards of $2.5 billion/year to acquire the NBA rights currently held by WBD, which is paying $1.2 billion/year through the end of next season.
Johnson has been with TNT Sports — previously known as Turner Sports — since 1989 and has served as its primary NBA studio host since 1990. Per SBJ, Johnson would “likely” continue to host NCAA men’s basketball tournament coverage for TNT and CBS and return to MLB play-by-play.

There is no way in hell ESPN would allow Charles Barkley the carte blanche, that he has with TNT.

I mean McAfee can basically say and do whatever he wants. Charles can have it too it just depends on how badly ESPN wants him and how steadfast he is in wanting to say what he wants to say. He doesn’t use the language that McAfee uses, but he does say exactly what he wants and what he believes and doesn’t care about a network or a producer’s narrative.

Media as we know it is collapsing and ‘big’ name media brands we used to know will cease to exist. Very, very soon.

Short of NBC getting a major share of the airtime in the newedia deals, none of this 'windfall' is good for the fans of the sport or improving the reputation of the league or its viewership numbers.
In fact, it will do nothing but make their product less and less and less relevant, but it will do one thing... And that is make the NBA players and owners even richer... It will not be out of the norm for a top player to start Making $75M per year very very soon.
And it's all because the streaming services are In a divj swinging contest for live television.
Sorry, but give me the old cable bundle over this splintered shitty interface mess..
