My great uncle Freddie John Falgout was the first United States casualty of ww2 on record.

Everybody in Louisiana descended from anyone named Falgout or Falgoust (two brothers in the first born generation dropped the s, two or three kept it) is descended from one French doctor who came to Louisiana around Destrehan in the early 1700s.

From what I understand, the surname basically does not even exist anywhere else anymore.

Hey cuz.

Also according to our family lore (don’t have that last name anymore), but all of the Doolittles are descended from William the Conquerer and were a bastard clan of his that got together after his death.

Lead poured down the center. No one ever knew that secrecy. Drilled out all the way down to the top of the hand grip.

That is is somewhat history, correct?

My grandmother had a massive Doolittle Family Book that I only looked through briefly, but it is an exceptionally proud and well documented family in the country. She herself was a Doolittle, but yeah there were lots of family charts in that huge book.

I mean save for the slaves they owned that also took the last name upon being freed (and let’s face it I’m probably directly related to some of them) and the people married into the family, all Doolittles are directly related in this country.

EDIT: Thank you very much for that link. May have misremembered the bastard clan I claimed (although William allegedly really got around where I probably still am one of his descendants), but as the article points out that the Doolittles do start with William the Conquerer where my ancestor was close and important enough to become an Earl of his. And yeah, Abraham is certainly my ancestor. So thanks for it. Really appreciate it.

But yeah, outside of my great uncle and his children and grandchildren, never met another person with the last name of Doolittle. Will put it on my calendar to try to make the 2033 Doolittle Family Reunion.

I went by the Pentagon a few hours after 911, we were in college and went to help (I don't think we knew how we would help but we heard that the bridges were closed to NYC).
We didn't actually get to volunteer for anything but we saw the side from the highway.

1996 starting at 10 o'clock at night, I started on a local culture pub crawl in Cairo Egypt. At 100 am we met up at an outdoor drinking joint engaged with Hosni Mubaraks [president of Egypt ] son. Identity was confirmed by drinking partner , head of the Kuwait airport. They can drink scotch. My next day was shear agony

A year later I sat at the project completion dinner table with Dick Cheney. Not a big deal, the table sat a hundred people and I was at the lower end

My first relative that arrived in this country on my mom's side. George Washington put him in charge of leading a group to collect the boats that would cross the Delaware River.
