Yeah, I’m walking away immediately in that situation. I’m not making a large purchase from a place I don’t trust.

My question would be what did they do with the other tires and bed cover? Did one of the salesman take them for their personal vehicle?

We bought a used 2021 a few years ago and the online pictures showed nerf bars and the truck in the lot did not have them.

When I asked them about it, they believe someone at one of their other dealerships stole them during detailing.

They knocked $500 off the price.

Test drove it last week, and I decided to buy it.

Had you already agreed to buy it, negotiated a price, and were just going to pick it up? Or did you decide to buy it and went up there to talk about it with them and tell them your decision?

Wheel swaps happen all the time with unsold vehicles. It’s only an issue if you agreed to purchase the vehicle as is, negotiated the price, and they changed it on delivery.

The tonneau cover thing is weird. That’s not normally something that gets swapped over.

We were looking at used Volvos and the dealer had one low mileage etc.

I asked had it been in a wreck. No. Then I asked why the front windshield had been installed without a rubber gasket around it like all the others that year.

So easy to walk away.

What were they?

I don’t work for a dealership but i see this a lot where people think their custom additions are worth dollar for dollar what they paid and 99/100 they are not.

People have cracked windshields replaced all the time without an accident.

Unless they reinstalled evrything to your satisfaction and came off the price significantly and let me take it to my mechanic for another thorough check, I'd walk in, make a lot of noise that other customers could hear, then walk.

Then tell everyone you know what they did, including TD.

I agree also, however there should be SOME compensation OR don't whine like a little 13 year old bitch when I take them off!

Did you consider the possibility that the compensation was already built into whatever they offered?

I don’t really know what you mean when you said they weren’t willing to go above “list” but if you’re expecting to get the same price selling to a dealership that you would get in a private sale you’re probably going to be disappointed.

It sounds like you did basically the same thing OP is ragging the dealership about.

ETA: It’s actually a little worse than what the dealership did in OP. It would be like if OP offered a lower price than the dealership was initially willing to accept, the dealership then called and said “actually, we are willing to accept that price” and then OP showed up and noticed the accessories were missing.
