We had plans for several players that were derailed by guys like Herb stepping up and showing themselves worthy of playing time.
That's true about Herb. But, the whole process between the AD trade and CJ trade was completely bungled. After Hart and NAW came in on draft night with Lonzo and BI, we immediately signed JJ Redick when we already had Jrue. Even when we traded Jrue, we brought in Bledsoe as a starter. I'm happy about where we are with Herb and Trey, but it's clear that Griffin always saw Hart as fill in from the AD trade.

I think he saw Hart as a “glue guy”, meaning 6th-7th man wherever we had to fill a hole.
