Even just employeed plumbers can make a lot more than that.

Having said that, I would want any kid of mine to go to college (unless they had like a bad learning disability). Crawling under a house in the heat of summer sounds brutal.

no they dont. this is the problem with this board...they see the business owner of the plumbing company and think everyone makes that....they dont.

in LA the median for a plumber is 61k. the 90% is 77k.

electrician is ~54k & ~70k

HVAC- $47k & $63k

welder is $44k & $57k even a welder 2 is only 10k more, welder 3 is 63k & 80k


so no they arent making "big money" unless they are working lots of overtime or go into some type of management position like superintendent

now if you want your kid in the trades, instrumentation is a good one but you have to have college for that. same with operator at the plants. both are much better jobs than basic construction hands.

now if your kid wants to be a contractor and build houses, that is a different story.
