This is pertenant info that should have been included in the OP. If you make a 6 hour drive pretty much once a month then she has no room to complain about you sitting a couple out when they pile up.
Now I would probably try to negotiate but that's sometimes tricky with a woman. I'd agree to go to both trips in 3 weeks if we then take a hiatus and avoid the drive for a few months in a row. Maybe try to negotiate some road head too?

You are dumb. Your wife and in laws will resent you. Be a man and pretend to get very ill so you have an excuse to not go on the trip. The wife and in-laws will be sympathetic to you instead of resentful. Win win.

Agreed, I once drove from New Orleans to Vermilion Parish round trip 12 weekends in a row because I was helping my in-laws with their house.
Maybe I'm the weird one, but I don't mind traveling on the weekends.

My MIL was saying I should just come (in a teasing way) and I told her they wouldn't come here twice in three weeks.
That kind of ended it.
FTR, they visit us maybe twice a year, we go there about once a month.

No, she basically only travels if I go.
I travel a lot for work so I just want to chill some weekends.
