I can promise you Johnson is going to take a different approach to the portal this year and we won’t have the same issue we did this season. He’s going to get it right

i have heard he was going to play summer ball back in bethesda again. maybe he wanted some time off before the season started ?
i was a big zeb fan. i hope he comes back but i also see he has been passed over. maybe he will transfer to a smaller school up north la and prove the player he can be.

So what did he say? What would his reaction be if LSU did go two years without being in a regional? Does it mean Johnson should keep his job regardless of how bad things get? If you really think that would be tolerated, you need to look back to Laval's last year.

I don't think Johnson has anything to worry about if he has a losing SEC season in 2025. However if he does and has a losing SEC season in 2026 he will be gone.
Hopefully he will get rid of the non performers who let the team down this year and bring in some players who can play in 25.

It will be interesting to see who on the team stays. I think we will have 6/7 pitchers stay and 8/10 position players stay. Should be interesting

He said that his job would not be in danger no matter what the outcome of next season is. Not that he thought it should or shouldn’t be. It wasn’t that hard to understand for most people apparently.

Some will take their early draft opportunities, some will be team choice and some will be player choice. These kids have to play and If they didn’t get opportunities this year chances are they won’t next year either.

I asked the question the way I did because I already accounted for guys getting drafted and ended up with about 29 players remaining. You said at most about 18 players would be back.
So, outside of the draft, you expect 10+ players to hit the portal this offseason?

That seems like plenty. I went through my spreadsheet and finish with 29 remaining as you did and then I can see maybe 5-6 others getting in the portal.

10 in the portal would either suggest some of these kids never actually wanted to be here and leaving at the first sight of getting passed on the depth chart or that Jay is doing something to run kids off. 10 is a lot.
If that happens based on numbers right now they would be 2 players short of the 40 roster limit next season if every recruit gets to campus.
