Kling is still a shitty hitter no matter how much makeup you try to put on that turd

Walks and HBP aren’t glamorous but they count as much as a single. I didn’t realize his OBP was that high. That plus his defense is pretty good justification for his lineup spot

Always grew up learning, “A walk’s a hit.” If he gets on base 40% of the time, it’s really not as bad as people think. I wonder what it would be if the kid hit around .250

batting average is of no consequence. just worry about OPS. if you walk a lot and hit for power, you are productive. any player with an OBP over 400 should play as much as possible.
a player can exist with a 300 batting average that is destroying the team and ruining their ability to score runs, if they have no power and never walk or HBP.
go watch moneyball again

If Kling isn't passive no he is a decent hitter.
Passive Kling is ballsack
Aggressive Kling is good/more than serviceable

He’s not as bad as the BA indicates. He routely works counts deep and gets on base at high clip. I think he is the better option out of Bingham and Brown. Frey can’t play defense rn.
Milazzo catching is plus compared to Neal and Trav. Neal and Trav should rotate DH and situational PH when Big Al is back there. Neal get a start back there once a weekend.

Do you not understand how important it is for our lineup if his speed is on the bases 40% of the time?

It’s baseball. A batter’s primary job (especially at lead-off) is to get on base.
Kling does it better than anyone on the team with at least 100 AB’s , except for Jones and Neal.
Below average hitters can still be great baseball players. He’s a net plus for the team.

He's pretty quick maybe start bunting him

But he gets on base. A guy who can do that in front of Tommy and Bear is valuable. Kling, Larson, Tommy and bear.
