I saw you asked me a couple of times and sorry I didn't answer right away as I was trying to find the answer.
I've been coaching fastpitch since 1987 and nobody has ever given me a rationale for that rule.
I'm guessing if she can go back, she can delay the tag and either one or multiple runs could score or the fielder could throw home and the batter would be safe.

I’m just curious…It’s almost as if softball doesn’t exist on the Rant during games. I follow LSU softball and there’s not much made of their games…Not like baseball anyway…curious why that is?

I agree. Not many people seem to follow softball and post during the games. I love watching LSU softball just the same as I love watching LSU baseball.

Jokes aside people are pretty numb to Beth never winning anything of note.
Beth has never won a sec championship and if we win it’s difficult to forget we finished 8th in the regular season. We’d trade for that any day.
