Mowing the yard and running over an underground yellowjacket nest is one of life's most miserable events.

My dad (RIP) did that when I was young, probably 10 or 11.

I've never seen run as fast as he did that day.

And those frickers Chase you. At least red wasps you can run 10 yards and they’ll leave you alone

Almost a rite of passage.

After I got ambushed by a nest, I allowed them one final ambush on the neighbor's shithead dog before going to war with them over the next few days and finally emerging victorious.

Do they have yellowjackets in Alaska?

I got into bumblebees once bushhogging but they didn’t sting me,they were swarming and attacking the engine up front.

That didn’t work with yellowjackets, bastards stung me 7 or 8 times,Ithrew the tractor into neutral and jumped off running.Went back about an hour after dark.
What scares me about yellowjackets is when I get stung my chest gets tight and I get short of breath.I carried an epipen with me for several years but I don’t know where it is now.

That first one feels like a bullet hitting you. Then you do the Yellow Jacket Dance as you sprint away from the mower as fast as you can.

Agreed. Last year one got me in the back of the head and my first thought was someone hit me with a rock. That shite hurt

happened to me a week ago with a weed eater. Got me in 3 spots around my lower leg/ankle. I dropped the machinery and yelled the loudest f-bomb in my life. My yard was not finished either

We’ll get em next time

found one in my yard last summer. Turns out yellow jackets clamp on to your leg and hammer down.

This happened to me once. It led to my mower rolling down a hill, and me later having to lay down cover fire with the leaf blower to retrieve an AirPod.
