Google Ert confirms, plenty cars/trucks on blocks. I think this is where my childhood buddies grew up, went to Southwood when they were pretty good in football. Their parents still live in the same house and watched the hood bloom around them.
GM plant shut down out there. Lots of good jobs vanished, and many of them lived in Southern Hills, because the plant was nearby.

The mother and father of the dead 12 year old are really the ones who killed him... in a roundabout way.
And yes, I know what you were thinking when you said that.

That being said, statistics show that without a father in the home you are 5x more likely to grow up poor, on government assistance, and commit crime. 9x more likely to drop out of school by their senior year. 20x likely to end up in jail.

What the hell is a 12yr old hood rat doing way down in Southern Hills?
Haven't been to Shreveport in a while? Southern Hills isn't "way down" from the hood anymore. The hood has migrated.

To all us baws in Benton, the hood is everything west of the river and east of Texas.

Ah, well if you can state it without elaborating then i'll just take your word for it....

Terrible. Just a kid.
Not excusing his crimes, but ask yourself is there a better way to address this? A shame for anyone to lose their life in a non-violent crime, especially a kid.

We don’t have details, so there could be some aggravating factors, but if you aren’t queasy over a 12 yr old being killed while engaged in petty theft, there’s something wrong with you.
My baby shouldn’t have to worry about getting shot every time he steals a car

The only way this kind of stuff gets fixed is if black people take it upon themselves to fix their broken, ghetto fabulous culture, and they have shown less than zero interest in doing that.

frick that. Property crimes should be taken far more seriously in this country. Honest, hard working people bust their asses to be able to afford cars. Their cars are more valuable than a hoodrat's life when said hoodrat tries to steal that car. If someone gets shot to death stealing a car, oh well. They deserve it, even if they're 12. If someone is already stealing cars at 12, they will never make a positive contribution to society.

again,
some posters are assuming this young man is a dangerous animal; you’re just as foolish, assuming he’s an innocent kid caught up in an freak incident.
it’s likely somewhere in between and not by accident he was there when he was.

It seems you share the same naivety on things as well.

On his way to his midnight basketball game?

At the energy tea store this morning, a group of black women were discussing a FB message allegedly made by the victim's mother. The message said that the boy's father had been dead for 3 years. The message was also a warning to other parents about raising their children correctly. It was not a bad message, if legitimate. Again, a woman from the local black funeral home was reading it aloud so I did not actually see the message.

Which part do you disagree with?
I'm tired of having to tap dance around this issue. Modern black culture is incompatible with a civilized society. Kids are joining gangs and becoming violent criminals (and yes, carjacking should be considered a violent crime) before they even become teenagers, and everyone just looks at this and thinks they'll change once they hit adulthood. This is third world bullshite and we're being forced to tolerate it and accept it in America because everyone is too fricking scared to call out the issue.

Yes, there is a better way. And it starts with parents not letting a 12yo run wild in the streets.
He got what he deserved. He is old enough to know better.
