Some things are more avoidable than others. Cheating is something you have to go out and try to do. It doesn't happen on a whim like destroying something of theirs.

i dont think its that black and white.
i go out tonight and get shitfaced and in my drunken state go home with some girl and bang her. i didnt go out and try to do that. the opportunity presented itself and i put myself in a bad situation and messed up.
if your wife goes and maxes out her credit cards, are you going to leave her?

If you do reconcile, I'd think very seriously before marrying. That's an entirely different set of problems on a whole other level if something happens causing it to end. A reputable relationship counselor beforehand might be a good idea, too, if you decide to pursue it.

B) it'll be the most powerful payback to behave at a completely higher standard than her. She'll really feel like shite then.
But also, and more importantly, handling it in such a way will give you the necessary pride to move on and stop thinking about her/reduce chance of you taking her back like a bitch. Even if you don't want to naturally let it slide, you'll personally gain a lot more confidence wise to not stoop to her level.
