Brandon Taylor is the most unsung/forgotten about player in LSU history.

Greg Jackson was an All American safety at LSU.

How are guys putting Mills over Chad Jones. For some reason, this board doesn’t give Jones his due. I can think of at least 5 game changing big plays Jones made during his career off the top of my head.

For shits and giggles, here are their junior year stats. Can’t really look at Jalen’s senior year since he got hurt..

Chad Jones 2009
74 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 9 PD, 6 PBU, 3 INT, 1 FF, 1 blocked kick, 6 punt returns for 129 yards and 1 TD

Jalen Mills 2014
62 tackles, 3 TFL, 6 PD, 5 PBU, 1 INT, 1 FR

Also keeping in mind that Mills was back there with Jamal Adams, while Jones was playing next to Brandon Taylor.

Mills probably had the more productive career at LSU, but Chad Jones had a better season.

Mills cost us games. He was out of position or overran plays in big moments. I like Mills, but he wasn’t on Jones level.

I won’t argue with that. I think people are underselling Chad Jones a bit, maybe because of the his NFL career being cut short.

I also look at some folks’ rankings and see Delpit really high, and my first reaction is “no way Delpit was as good as those guys.” But then I remember that he was dealing with injuries this year.. that kid balled the hell out as a sophomore.

74 tackles, 9.5 (!!) TFL, 14 PD, 9 PBU, 5 INT, 1 FF, 1 FR. And he should have had another FF and another INT in the aTm game last year.

Landry 12int in 52g

Chad Jones 5int 40g

Adams 5int 37g

Mills 6int 46g

Reid 6int in 39g

Without looking, was there a better statistical season for a safety at LSU than Steltz's 2007 season?

101 tackles
5 tfls
3 ff
6 ints
1 sack
13 pd

Consensus first team all American

I’m a Homer and I like my answer to be
Laron a Hahnville guy but what LaRon did as a Freshmen was never seen at such a special important role on a National Championship team but also throughout the season. Maybe SteeeRods maybe not ????

Dude hit you and made u scared over the middle and I love that kidda play.

It’s hard to rank those guys because some are different than others. Laron Landry really plays a different position than Eric Reid.

But I’d take them in this order:

Jamal
Grant
Reid
Steltz
Chad

Them, if I wanted a hybrid LB/S I’d take Laron. Mills was a corner.
