On TV, it was Gino Torretta. I watched him against Alabama and I remember thinking, "this guy sucks."

The first one I really remember was OJ. He was a true beast with a burst of speed that would leave you in the dust. I think it was the 1967 UCLA vs. USC game where he went wild but every time he carried the ball the UCLA players rushed over to pick him up so he had less time to rest.didn’t matter though He rushed for a ton of years and USC won 21-20. Great game for an 8 year old to remember.

Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson on Nov 13, 1982 in Auburn. 177yds and 2tds for Herschel was impressive. Bo wasn’t the freak in 82 that he ultimately became. Was truly blessed to see greatness and God given talent first hand like those two had.

Me too!

In person, I saw Doug Flutie against Houston in the Cotton bowl, Bo Jackson against Texas A & M in the Cotton bowl and of course Joe Burrow numerous times.

I attended NLU and worked for John David Crow (winner at A&M in late 50's). He was a tough old fellow.

First on movietone sports at the Saturday movie (in those dark days before television) was Howard 'Hopalong' Cassidy. First in person was Billy Cannon - saw him play in high school, college and the pros.
