I'd imagine 2 things need to happen before they can even consider breaking ground - offtake agreements in place and legislation that allows a "book and claim" type approach for H2 similar to Nat Gas and power. If LA legislators were smart, they'd see that this plant doesn't happen without the latter.

Isn't CF doing something similar with blue hydrogen or ammonia?

CF makes ammonia for fertilizer base stock as far as I know. My nephew works for CF. He does well there.

It's going to happen. The little brother plant is being built in Texas City right now. This one will dwarf that plant.

Shouldn't.

Sorrento and Gonzales Hwy 44 and 30 exits better look out though.

Not happening

Royal Dutch Shell is considering converting its shuttered crude oil refinery near Convent into an alternative fuel manufacturing facility.

"Given increasing customer demand for low-carbon fuels, we now view Convent as well-positioned to support Shell’s plans for growth in this area while delivering value to shareholders," said Curtis Smith, spokesperson with Shell.

Exactly. All symbolism over substance.

I’m torn on this. Are they converting methane or some other hydrocarbon feedstock?

If it’s methane, this could impact energy prices as demand goes up domestically.

Wow 2 great pieces of news today for Ascension. If Shell can restart that Convent site, plenty of good paying jobs between the 2 complexes in the next 5 years

That would be a freaking sweet arse plant to work in.

That is a relatively clean product and so nothing you dealt with would be dirty

This should have been done 15 years ago, but they were too short sighted. Also, it’s rumored that Motiva wanted to fund to 4 lane highway 70 from the bridge to 22. Whether this rumor is true or not, it should have been done. Instead they will allow the area to be a bottle neck.
