RB Heavy Strategy

Have the 2nd Pick in a 10-man PPR work league. Leaning towards going (1.2) Bijan/Hall, (2.19) Kyren/ETN, (3.2) Cook/Walker III. Have been grabbing Higgins, Mclaurin, Dell, or Moore with my 4th - 6th round picks in most mocks I've tried. In my opinion, missing out on the top tier WRs makes me hammer the RBs to start thinking that there is good value in the later WRs over RBs. What do yall think ?

I think you gotta take a RB with a top 5 pick this year if any of the top 3 are there IMO there's a huge drop off after those 3. I'm looking at Etienne in the 2nd if I can get him as well.

There's way more depth at WR later in the draft I agree

I've tried 2 RBs in top 3 rounds and liked how it turned out in some mocks. I have not gone to the extreme of 3 RBs in top 3 rounds. That's a lot of catching up at WR and then while catching up at WR, others are drafting top tier QBS/TEs.
Seems like you would be chasing the rest of the draft, and I don't like to chase.

How many Wrs can you start?
ETA: in my PPR league last year Ceedee was the leading non-qb scorer and Tyreek was only 10 points behind CMC. 6 receivers outscored the second highest RB scorer.
IMO, there's value in guys like Josh Jacobs, Kenneth Walker, Alvin Kamara, Joe Mixon, and James Cook, who can be had in round 3 or later. There's no way I'd go RB in round 2 if I went RB in round 1.

I got Kenneth Walker III in the 4th round in my draft after going all WR with my first 3 picks. That's just how it fell to me. We only have to start 1 RB, 1WR, and 1TE in my league with 3 flex spots so I tend to draft who I think is the best available flex player in the early rounds. I did end up with Devin Singletary and Zach Moss in rounds 6 and 7 so I'm hoping that I have one legit starter between those 3. I drafted Jefferson, Kupp, and Adams with my first 3 picks and kept Tank Dell with a 15th round pick so I feel good about WR. I guess it just depends on how it falls. My league is PPR also.

Bijan/Hall at 1.02 - like it
ETN/Kyren at 2.09 -sure, prefer Kyren though
Cook/Walker at 3.02- no thank you, prefer the WRs there for sure.

I’m in a keeper. Kept Bijan. I will be 4th pick with Hall and Taylor still left. WR left Lamb and Wilson. I’d love to get Hall, but don’t think he will be there.

Kyren and Etienne have ADPs of 2.05 and 2.06. I’d be surprised if they’re still on the board at 2.09, but could be.
If I were you I’d be looking at WR in the 3rd. You may be reaching a bit on ADP, but you have to do that when you’re drafting the ends. Waddle, Collins, Deebo and Aiyuk would probably be there. Olave may even be available.

TE is not a must we have 2 RBs and 2WRs with one flex spot. In most of my practice runs I can get Purdy/Love in the 8th-ish or Daniel's/Lawrence in the 9th/10th and I'm OK with those options I know I'm missing out on anything above that

I went 0 RB in my 10 man and it’s looking kinda rough. Had the 7th pick and went Jamar Chase, Garret Wilson, Josh Allen, Mike Evans the first 4. RBs ended up with Montgomery, Zamir, Moss, and Warren. Have to hope 2 of them do well enough
I might be in the minority but I don’t think there’s a huge difference between the 3rd round rbs and the 6th round rbs. Conner and Montgomery are on the same level as a Kamara, Rachaad, and Mixon IMO

Honestly that is a pretty stacked team. Your team will be very good and your rbs are good enough and have upside. Your qb/wrs will carry you every week. That will be a fun team. Were you flexing by saying your team looks rough lol?

Both gone in the first 16 picks of a draft I was just in.

Well hoping for a little luck and a team or two goes after some QBs early ????

I went RB heavy in my league. 10 man non PPR. I ended up with Bijian and Pachenco 1 and 2. I drafted Brian Robinson jr in the 8th and Zamir White in like the 11th round and was able to get Gus Edwards in the 16th round.
We had 3 QB taken in the first 2 rounds. Someone took A. Kamara in the 3rd rd. I love leagues with hardcore Saints fans.
I like my team
QB Justin Hebert
RB Bijian
RB I. Pachenco
WR DK Metcalf
WR Mike Evans
TE Sam Laporta
Flex Zamir White
K Justin Tucker
Bench
Aaron Rodgers
Brian Robinson
Jaylen Waddle
Terry McClaurin
DeAndre Hopkins
Pat Freirmuth
Gus Edwards

I was on the WR heavy train but the more mocks I do the more I like my RB/RB builds.
I can see both sides of the coin. There is a lot of value in rounds 4-6 at WR, and I'd bet a lot of money there will be a top 8 receiver finish come from that group.
RB is just a more easily replaceable position. If Amon Ra gets hurt, it probably doesn't make Jameson Williams a top 10 receiver. If Kyren Williams gets hurt, Blake Coram could be a top 10 RB, and he's going undrafted in a lot of leagues. It's just an easier position to fill throughout the year on waivers and get similar production to an early pick.
Basically you might have to stomach some weak links in the roster early in the year but I think WR heavy could pay dividends down the road as waivers play out.

I disagree. There is some value in RB in the later rounds where your WR’s can carry you over a team with one stud RB. I picked third this year and went with Tyreek. My team is below and I’m pretty confident in it. 10 team PPR.
QB-Dak
WR-Tyreek, Nico Collins, R. Rice, Harrison Jr, Christian Kirk, McConkey, JSN and Shakir.
RB’s-Etienne, K Walker, Javonte Williams’s, Dowdle, and J. Brooks.
TE-Evan Ingram
My RB’s don’t jump off the page, but my bench and Flex spots are head and shoulders better than everyone else that took RB’s early and often.

Just used it in 12 team PPr league
Saquan 1.8
Kyren 2.17
James Cook 3.32
Tank Dell 4.41
Higgins 5.56
Evan Engram 6.65
Jayden Reed 7.80
Jayden Daniels 8.89
Cleve 9.104
Chase Brown 10.113
Trevor Lawrence 11.128
Khalil Hebert 12.137
Luke Musgrave, Jahan Dotson and Jalynn Polk to round it out ... no kicker league
Also, report card was a "D" and I'm projected to finish last in league at 3-11... behind a guy who drafted Houston Defense in 5th round.

And that's what is great about this board. You may be right and if I get Tyreek at 5 I won't be mad.

I think you should go in with the strategy you like and let the board fall to you.
Last year I picked last in a 12 team league. Took CeeDee and AJ Brown with my top 2 picks. My RBs drafted were Pacheco, Hebert, Akers. Obviously I dropped Hebert and Akers.
Picked up Achane, Kyren, and Jerome Ford on waivers. Won the league.
Also Burrow and Andrews went down with injury. Grabbed Stafford and Likely off waivers.
Draft strategy can work but also playing the waivers smartly too. Last year a lot of top RBs failed to produce.
