Why was Nick & Sam’s your least favorite? Just curious as we go there a couple of times a year & it is always amazing.

Bonefish in Madison, MS was closed.
Damn I used to go there a good bit. There was a great waiter that immigrated from Africa. He was awesome.
For a chain that bonefish was pretty damn good

Steakhouses are for a special occasion. Cooking a steak is easy and you can buy any cut of meat almost anywhere you want nowadays. People that truly appreciate steak are probably the ones that prefer to cook it themselves.
Chain restaurants have been declining for a while now. There has been a push to eat local. Restaurant chains used to be better because they had a huge advantage to sourcing products and enjoying economies of scale. It's easier today to source and ship food, so their advantage has dwindled. On top of that, they have too many people on the tit. The have become a corporation that doesnt care about food, they care about money. A good restaurant requikres someone that truly cares about the product they serve. This is why restaurants usually take a downturn when the founder's children take over. Less heart involved and more people involved to split the profit.
Large chains are the worst. They will hire some MBA in the corporate office to figure out how to increase profits. Then the dumbass will say hey, if you stop giving people napkins with their sandwich we will save 3 million dollars nationwide. They do it, they save 3 million dollars, and they say wow good job dumbass. Well, now you have customers that have a slightly less enjoyable experience and they remember that and maybe even go less that they did before, Losing 5 million dollars in revenue annually nationwide. Then they will hire another dumbass to figure out why sales are down. And cost of all these studies and employees is passed onto the customer.

I agree. Corny corporate bar-and-grill restaurants never closed down in America back in the day.

Way too much sodium and carbs in that dish.

Closed the Bonefish in Hoover Al… near the Gonnorhea mall. But that could have been related to a once better area going bad…. I wonder how many of these closing reflect on an area becoming unsafe for family dining

They are about to open an Outback in the city of Bham (just north of UABs campus in midtown). Very odd location to me. Construction looks complete and should be opening this month I think.

This used to be in my top 5 as well then we ate at the original in NYC last year. It was not good. Have eaten there and other locations many times and it was always top quality with excellent service. Was very disappointed.

My last two Outback experiences were terrible. Horrible service and mediocre food.
Still go to Carrabbas several times per year and its always a good experience.

its been quite a few years since i spent a considerable amount of time on the road, but a decade ago it wasn't uncommon to spend 300 nights a year in a hotel. In Louisiana we take decent food for granted. However, when you spend a month traveling to no name towns in the midwest, you appreciate the consistency of what at the time was an Outback steakhouse across any number of states. Again, i haven't been to one in quite a while. But i'd go for an Outback special and a draft amberbock and not be dissapointed.

The Outback in Covington should have been shut down two years ago.
