It's ok. The batter on the oysters is very tasty. The rest, meh.

I like The Francis. Never had dinner but I like to get lunch there on trips to or fro Baton Rouge. Salty oysters, good poboys and burgers, cold beer and pretty hot waitresses
The owner used to post here. Before he opened I recommended he name the salad portion of his menu the Lighten Up Francis. He didn’t though. Big mistake imho

They pre-shuck their oysters and leave them in the cooler. They sucked when I got them. But that was right after they opened. Maybe they have more sense now.
Smokehouse next door is better food.

SOP for most/all places that do not have an oyster bar. many even buy them shucked

It's overall pretty good. That said, there's nothing I had there that's been great or better than anywhere else. The fried fish is cut like the fish at Middendorf's. They do crawfish well. It's clean. Good service.
The manager/operator is Jason Jackson. You may remember him from Sammy's. I've heard that there was some non-compete stuff in the settlement when he split. Now that Sammy's is closed/under new ownership, some of those restrictions may be gone, and he can resurrect some old recipes.

Already shucked oysters are dog shite and shouldn’t be served other than fried. Also they brought out the first dozen with no liquor and they were dry and rubbery and not very cold. Sent them back, next dozen came out the same. Sent those baxk and asked for nothing else. Manager apologized and I was fine. We had other appetizers that were great.
But whatever they were doing at that point didn’t work. However they stored them was completely drying them out.

Yeah, building is cool, but wasn't a fan of the food. I mean, if you like fried everything, then it's great. But i try to avoid fried food nowadays.
I'm convinced the crawfish bisque gave me food poisoning that lasted 4 days. Going to a corn maze with the wife and kids after eating there was not a good idea.

went yesterday... probably my 7th time since they opened and this was my first bad experience
the cold marinated crab claws are never consistent and were just bad yesterday.
I got the shrimp and catfish platter to share with my kids. I noticed the portions have decreased.
SO got the chicken fried steak and the gravy looked different and it was soggy.
I also wondering if they prices went up...
