Anyone have a killer hot dog chili recipe?

I’ve tried a lot of recipes but have not found one that really knocks my socks off. I like a Coney Island sauce style chili. Tia

Imo canned chili is the best chili for hotdogs

Interesting enough, I made some hot dog chili this morning using this recipe as my base. I subbed the dry spices with a base I make for enchilada sauce utilizing dry guajillos and arbol chiles. Also added some beef bouillon for salt. Hormel hot dog chili copy.
Not Coney Island style but tastes really good.

I just use my basic chili recipe and will take some out and cook it down longer to let more of the liquid evaporate and thicken the chili up a good bit.
I hate a runny chili on a hot dog.

I use Wolf’s no beans most of the time when I get a craving for chili dogs but like the process of making my own sometimes.

And Hormel crushes ANY of the no-name generic brands. Those are more like chili soup.

BDevill posted this one several years ago.
This is a recipe for the Flint Original Coney Island Sauce:
1 tbsp Butter
1 tbsp. Margarine
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
2 medium onions chopped
1 clove garlic crushed
salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp. chili powder
1 tbsp. mustard
6 oz can tomato sauce
6 oz can water
Combine all ingredients and simmer until thick. Do not brown ground beef first. Add 4 or 5 hot dogs and simmer 15 more minutes. If you want thicker sauce, add less water than the 6 oz can.

I always fry up hamburger meat with diced onions and garlic. Add wolf chili and tabasco sauce. Add a little water

Probably because it tastes good.

Well yeah it tastes good but why 1 of each? Why not just one or the other? Who buys margarine these days? Understand the context before you get catty GG.

Not my recipe so my answer was "probably". I suspect the margarine was used in place of an oil with the butter. Maybe to keep the butter from browning too much. Many recipes will call for a mix of oil and butter together where too much browning isn't optimal.

There wasn't any browning mentioned in the recipe. I just think it's odd that they would have both.
