Bao Asian Market and Deli - Prairieville

Been waiting for this place to open. It's located on Airline Hwy in Prairieville, in the same shopping center as Albasha and Spanky's. It just opened up last week. It's the same owners as Bao Vietnamese Kitchen in BR, and the menu is the same, but limited to spring rolls, pho, and banh mi. The rare steak pho was excellent. There are a few tables located inside if you want to eat there, but it's more set up for take-out. It has a good selection of asian foods and spices that you won't find anywhere else in Ascension.

The one on Perkins is delicious. And i wonder if the asian market next door is owned by them.

That looks good. Not sure I’ll need that large bag of rice but I’ll check it out. Bug where is the one on Perkins?

Next to Rotolo's. It's between Essen and Bluebonnet, next door to the produce market.

I frequent Pho Bang in Metry and this is as close as I have found.

Dont think so.
Havent looked at the prices lately. I just go eat soup and some rolls and pay the bill.
No place that I have been to has the "ambiance" of Pho Bang in Metry.

Not quite as good as some of the Florida Blvd. joints, but this will be my new go-to since it's less than 5 min. from the house. Glad they're finally open.

Bao is priced for it's location(s). Not as cheap as the places on Florida but it's pretty darn tasty and still reasonable.
ETA Grab a bag of frozen dumplings from the market for your freezer.

I'd take Bao over Ava St any day of the week.

Can anyone comment on the size of the banh mi? Is one enough?

It was a large piece of bread filled

Ordered to-go last night and one banh mi is enough, unless you’re really hungry. It is like an 8” or 9” long sandwich. I got the cold cuts and pâté, Mrs. Urine got one of the chicken ones. Good stuff. I think they were only $6 a piece.

The only thing I don't like is that the menu is limited - no wings or bun bo hue. The #13 banh mi (Vietnamese sausage) is the best I've had in the BR area.
