I talked to a friend/acquaintance who owns a sushi place in BR last night. I told him that a Korean BBQ would be a good idea in BR to which he agreed. He said was planning to open one but he said Ichiban’s owner(I think Wong was the name), got ahead of him and is planning to open one at the old Copeland’s location across of Our Lady’s hospital. He said owner will do it the right way. Very exiting news.

So, nobody with an actual background in Korean cuisine?

Guessing Nagoya's rebrand to "Volcano Korean BBQ" isnt legit?

Iirc, most of the Japanese in BR are owned by Chinese people. I guess if you get the right chef, it doesn't matter

I wonder if it will be a Korean BBQ where you cook your food at the table and they give you scissors to cut the meat, or if it’s going to be like a table service thing.

Some places have both options. I’m guessing since this guy bought the building in a prime location, he won’t be going cheap on the set up.

Hopefully they do it right. Korean cuisine should do well here since people are used to flavor and spice.

The owner of Ichiban used to own the Mongolian BBQ that was on Florida at Donmoor years ago. He knows what he is doing

That location sucks. I live three minutes from there and during lunch hour I’m not going in or out of any parking lot. Not to mention a couple of the worst traffic signals in Baton Rouge. And you’re sure he bought the building and isn’t leasing?
But I’ll give it a shot.

That place was so good.

Pretty sure that's going to be another hibachi/sushi place.

It’s not nearly as bad as it used to be, plus that location has the side entrance on Summa so it should be fine there.

By the way, the guy I was talking to is said he’s planning to open an omakase here in BR charging $85 and $120 per person. But he says a lot stuff in general so I’ll see about that.

Just bumping this instead of starting a new thread.
It looks like they are just going to move Boru and Sweet Society from the Electric Depot to that old Copelands spot.

Boru Ramen and Sweet Society are moving from Mid City into the former Copeland's/Batch 13 building on Essen Lane. The two restaurants are expected to complete the move into 4957 Essen by mid-January.
So it looks like we are going to have to wait for the place on Starring and Perkins or the one on Siegen at the old Joe’s Crab Shack to open before we can get some Korean BBQ
