It occurred to me that there has to be some health benefits to having your bread toasted, plus I love my bread toasted. Came across this site.

benefiteof.net

quote:

1. Provides energy Similar to other carbohydrate sources, toasted bread contains significant amounts of starch that provides energy. Getting your starch from toasted bread is much better in contrast with getting it from the normal bread. Actually, eating some kinds of bread alone without toasting them can raise your levels of blood sugar because of their increased GI values. Toasted bread offers sufficient starch without any drawbacks linked to excessive starch intake.

2. Helps weight loss It is advisable to toast breads that already have a low index so as to achieve any weight loss aspirations. Toasted breads add more fiber to the body, which is vital for digestion and general body health. A low glycemic index diet that includes eating toasted bread is great for healthy and fast weight loss.

3. Low fat content The process of toasting bread is thought to lower the fat content of bread. Toasted bread only has 1g of fat in every 28g slice. While the difference in fat between standard bread and toasted may be minimal, it is of great importance to people looking to lessen their fat intake.

Anyone else likes to toast their bread?

I doubt the claims made in that article. Toasting the bread may make the starches less digestible therefore not providing the blood sugar spike compared to regular bread but it still has the same nutritional content. Toasting bread does not add fiber to the bread not does it remove any of the fat from the bread.

I do. Gotta have toast with bacon and eggs and I like toast for sandwiches.

It's a sham. What isn't false is just incredibly inconsequential.

Simply toasting bread for a sandwich adds texture and makes an okay sandwich a good sandwich. How people don't crisp up bread escapes me.
