Veron's
I would say hands-down, but I would not mean it.
Cause Richard's is damned good, too.

Just want it on record that you like Dick sausage.

Dons in reserve is the best I ever had and can find. Jacobs in Laplace is a close second.
I keep seeing people talk about veron and I think their sausage and aundoulle just taste fake. Not really smoked.

Came here to say exactly this. I've never had anything that comes close to Don's. Grew up eating it. It ruined me on any others, especially the ones like Richards and Verons.

No, not for me. I like Bailey's, Jacob's, Wayne Jacob's, Don's and Veron's - in that order. And by Veron's I mean the single store in Lutcher, not the supermarket brand that had food safety issues.
And Veron's in Lutcher sells jambalaya every Saturday that is some of the best jambalaya I've ever had.

I'm a Jacob's man but Don's is good too.

So whats the best brand I can pick up at Rouses in New Orleans for gumbo and jamalaya? Trying not to drive too far away from Uptown.

The Verons commercially produced one isn't that bad, truth be told though...I haven't bought Andouille at Rouses in over 5 years. My sis in law lives 5 minutes from Verons grocery store and brings me some when I ask her to.

I can't tell you how many andouilles I've tasted hoping to find one good enough that I don't have to make a drive to Laplace for Jacob's. There is no substitute, I tried Wayne Jacob's, but it was definitely drier and tougher.

I use Verons almost exclusively. I love it.
