Best BBQ restaurant in greater Baton Rouge area shutting its doors

Oak and Smoke BBQ Company is closing down. Their last day of service will be Saturday, April 19th.
After watching the YT video of Goldee’s, and what truly goes behind making it work (and especially with BBQ), it has to be one of the harder concepts to financially pull off. It must be a true labor of love.
I really enjoyed Oak and Smoke. They have above average brisket for this area, and very good ribs.
This is according to LouisianaFirstNews website - it was posted on Facebook.

Smoke Bayou on Inniswold off Jefferson is damn good. you'll be the only white person in there but its really good for store bought BBQ. Coming from someone who things that smoke meat better than most.

That’s not true. Sonny’s BBQ on Florida Blvd. is better than ever and still going strong.

frick, man. I thought you were announcing the closing of Jay's. I am sorry for your loss, though. That sucks.

They actually moved to Coursey recently. I hope moving into a new place doesnt ruin it.

I don’t wanna bash the place as they seem like nice people but I was never that impressed with their bbq. Seemed to be named “best” by lack of anything else in the area. Certainly not better than Smoke Bayou or Offset Smoker Bbq. They do make some killer beans and most people seemed to really like their food. I wish them well.

I have never heard of this place before. Maybe they should have advertised a little better too.

Anybody who doesn't think Offset is the best BBQ in the city can kick rocks. Gonzo is better, but not in BR. Its honestly a pretty huge drop to 2nd place after Offset. They both capitalize on only being open the most busy days of the week. They both sell out every weekend. Baton Rouge BBQ is about like cajun food in San Antonio. Edible but doesn't hold a candle to a decent Texas style BBQ.

God bless the former Fast Track locations with their signature pyramid roof design

I am sorry to hear that. I certainly have an understanding of how difficult this time period is most likely for you. Praying for better days ahead that will allow for many of the great times you shared with him to come through.

Offset is best in BR, but I still don't mind making the drive to Gonzo's which imo is far and away the best. Looking forward to trying the new place in Industriplex

Smoke Bayou is better than Offset.
