Very hot to get some nice char before they overcook.

We cooked'em at about 350 degF. They were large shrimp (probably 15-20 count).

Had an overpowering char flavor to them. It was our first time grilling on the BGE so I'm sure we didn't do something quite right.

And advice would be appreciated. TIA.

As hot as you can get. 30 seconds per side.

Did this 2 nights ago. These were medium shrimp.

Fire at 450. Placed shrimp on skewers as close to edge of fire as possible.

Seasoned shrimp with Prudommes seafood magic liberally. Melted some butter (1/2 cup), squeezed juice from 1/4 of a lemon, and crushed 2 cloves of garlic. Mixed together and basted shrimp after putting on grill.

Cook 2 min turn over. Baste again, cook 2 min and enjoy.

I thought they turned out pretty well.

1. I can't get my charcoal to 450 unless I used a ridiculous amount for shrimp.
2. If I could, 2 minutes would be too much.
3. Prudhommes is salt, so is butter I prefer marinade to deliver salt. I use Garlic Terryaki.

I marinate the shrimp for 1/2 hour. Then get the coals to 325. Put the skewers on and grill for one minute on each side = 2 minutes. I use large shrimp.

I then shut the vent on the pit to reduce heat and put the shrimp on the upper rack to smoke while I put French Bread slices on the grill.

One or two minutes later everything is ready.

Do you have a BGE or ceramic smoker?

I get that you think I cooked them too long, but in my defense, they were not directly over the fire and I was basting which cools the shrimp down while cooking.

Like I said in the other post, they seemed ok to me and I was the one who was eating. I wouldn't have posted anything if they had tasted like shite. Sorry if you don't believe.

FWIW I have marinated shrimp in many different things, garlic terryaki included and have never made better tasting shrimp than I did with the posted recipe.

Nope, I've got a cheap barrel. Works great for ten years. Throw it away and get another.

How long have you been grilling? Shrimp is pretty easy.
