Recently the wife switched to coconut oil to cook eggs in the morning. I gotta say I was kind of hesitant at first, but my goodness it really enhances the flavor of scrambled eggs.

Just wanted to share in case someone wanted to spruce up the daily breakfast.

coconut oil is the secret to making good popcorn, as well as flavacol seasoning.

It's a really good oil to use b/c it has a high smoke point and it's flavorless and odorless, so it allows the food to maintain its flavor without affecting it.

See I find the eggs have a bit of a coconut flavor when we do it. We rarely use salt if at all when we do scrambled eggs because it just isn’t necessary.

Save your bacon grease if you aren't already. Makes for excellent eggs and hashbrowns etc.

Have thought about doing this in the past but thought the coconut flavor and eggs wouldn't go well. May have to try it

i believe you can get coconot oil with flavor added, or pure coconut oil which is flavorless.

My wife started using the Costco brand coconut oil to cook eggs. I’m sure she saw something somewhere about the benefits of coconut oil. I’m just reporting that after eating it, I was a fan of how it tastes and yes I have eaten eggs cooked in bacon grease (also delicious). Using this oil just gave it a different flavor that I also found very tasty.

I’m not advocating to using oil coconut oil but just telling folks my experience as someone who was also skeptical that coconut oil and eggs worked well together.

I have been using it for eggs every morning for years. I find it is flavorless. I use the lou ann un refined brand I think it is. I also use butter, bacon grease, lard, tallow, and schmaltz (chicken fat) to do eggs and all bring a different flavor. Depends what I have on hand and what I am currently board of using lol.

That’s why most movie theaters used it until the mid-90s when the studies told us it was the least healthy thing you could eat.
Since then, it has become healthy, not healthy again, and I’m not sure where it stands right now.
This is why people need to stop giving so much credence to these food studies. It’s amazing how different the results are depending on who funded the study.
Lard is healthy again, so I guess my grandparents had it right all along.

Pure unrefined virgin coconut oil has a coconut taste. I have never had a unrefined coconut that was flavorless

no it does not. that's actually one of the limitations of it is that it's a mid smoke point oil.

One of those, huh?

Coconut oil is great, but it definitely has a coconut taste. Not meant for all purposes.

He asked why she switched to coconut oil.
I answered that most oils are shite.
I’d say you are the “one of those”.

I primarily use avocado and olive oils only, but have no problem using vegetable or canola oils. I keep one on hand because they also serve a purpose

Human clinical studies say otherwise

Every virgin coconut oil I’ve had has a coconut taste. How would it not?
