Had some work to do in the Denham Springs area and ran across Buddy's BBQ.

Decided on the Burnt End sandwich for lunch. Very, very good. Price is a little high, but that's every BBQ place now. Buddy had the sampler plate (pulled pork/burnt ends) and the pork was very, very good. Need to head back soon.

By far the best BBQ I've had in the area that wasn't from Barbosa.

Will make the trek back for sure. Give it a try if you're in the area.

BBQ has an extremely low profit margin. It SHOULD be higher if it followed other restaurants profit margins.

When will then be now?

Cool, so the pitmaster sat down and ate with you. Of course he would say that it was very very good.

Barbosa’s pop ups are the best in the area by far, imo. I still enjoy Firehouse in Watson and the AYCE dry rubs at Sonny’s from time to time.

They have a good sauce. Their buns are homemade.

I’ll be back.

The beans taste like right out a can and I had some pulled pork that was like paste it had so much barbecue sauce in it.

Now the brisket was edible.

Had it for the first time Saturday night...

Didn’t care for pulled pork, the chicken was fantastic, the ribs were really good, but the best thing was the sliced brisket! It was very good and not dry! Good sides as well.

Eveyhting is homemade from what a friend told me. I live near Wayne’s bbq in livingston and will drive to buddy’s for now on. Everyone should give it a try!

Had it at a pop up one Sunday at overpass.... whole lot of meh. Brisket was cooked decent, but I’m pretty sure Ol boy cooked it in an oven the whole time and tried to finish it in a smoker. Flavorless “bbq”

The wife and her friend didn’t care for it either.

Buddys is one of the few places I have found that has pulled chicken. Their specials (usually soup-ed up sides) are solid. There is also a little hole in the wall in Baker called Jim's Smokehouse that's rocking. Their half chicken has some of the best smoked flavor I have found anywhere.

You can actually watch ole boy post progress videos from the smoker on his Ig.

And whoever said podnuhs has no idea what bbq ia supposed to taste like because that place is terrible.

Beans and sauce are GOAT. Not a fan otherwise.

If you are in the St. Gabriel area for lunch try out Big Jakes BBQ. He may have the best BBQ around the BR area. Problem is he is only open M-F for lunch and that is it. Nothing on the weekends or dinner, and he closes for a few weeks around some holidays.

The best day to go is Thursday to get the special (you and your family will thank me later).

Definitely worth a shot IMO. I feel like for the BR area it's solid BBQ
