Announced on FB. I'm going to miss that place.
I think we're down to just Laplace and Claiborne locations. They may be the last 2 left in the country.
ETA: Forgot the Destrehan location.

Isn't Baton Rouge Frostop still open on Government?

I doubt this is the case.
Let me check on Nomenu.com first to verify your assertion.

The wife and I went there several times over the years when they'd have the impromptu car show with lots of 50's - 70's hot rods show up.
My earliest memory of a Frostop was the one in Arabi on the corner of St. Claude and Aycock St. that was across the street from the old St. Bernard Bus Station. Loved the big frosted mug root beer.
That building was turned into a bar for a while then torn down and an auto parts store now occupies that site-----AutoZone I believe.

I went to the one in Laplace a few weeks ago and left severly dissappointed.
Shitty arse frozen wal-mart patty that barely passes as beef for a burger. That wasn't the lotto cheese burger i remember.

So Sad.
I have told you guys many times I ran the grill at T-Willie's Frostop on North State Street in Jackson back in the mid 1960s while I was in High School. I worked 5 - closing pretty much 5 nights a week. After the 11-7 shift left, the kitchen belonged to me. I was a burger cooking fool back in those days.
Menu included T-Willie burger, Butter Burger, Lot-O Burger, fish sandwich, shrimp burger, Grilled cheese, Ham sandwich and ham and cheese, BBQed beef and pork, Hot dogs, cheese versions for all burgers and dogs. fries, onion rings, fried pies.
I also mixed the root beer syrup when it ran low. Worked for a guy named John Wilson who owned the Frostop on Ellis and T-Willie's. Mr. Wilson was a great boss, probably the best boss I ever had in my 60 years working. Started when I was 15. I always laughed that Mr. Wilson never questioned why my parents brought me to work and picked me up for the first year I worked there.
Not even my first job and certainly not my last one, but great memories.

No idea how. Place is awful and filthy

MD, since I growed-up* in Jackson I'm curious where that Frostop was roughly located on N State. As a wee Fondren youngun' the farthest north we would adventure was the Pasquale's at State and Triangle Drive, or across the street to get a gallon of artesian well water at Primo's Northgate.
*Jackson-speak.

Scrolling through social media looking at their food and can understand why they had to close. Are these the original owners? I feel sorry that the place has to close and it has to be heartbreaking but the food looks very generic. You’re a hamburger joint but it looks like they are serving frozen patties and packaged French Fries.

The north side of our parking lot was against the wall of Pasquale's Lot. They were the next business north of us. Back then, if I wanted to eat "superb stuff", I would walk across the street to Promos Northgate Deli and get Half of a fried chicken to go. I think it was $2.50 back then. Really good chicken too.
Years later, the wife and I dined in the main dining room at Northgate several times before they closed. That Primos location was good dining for many years, as was Lefleur's and Dennery's back in those days. I remember when the lunch buffet at the Hilton was first rate lunch eating and several chain restaurants on County Line. Sad shape city now.
Back then I also got artesian water from Northgate. There was also an artesian well on South Commerce Street, the fill pipe was on the loading dock of some warehouse there. We went there also. There was also one on Bootlegger's Row, (Old Brandon Road). Memory of the location of that one evades me. I bet the one on South Commerce is still there.

Dumping some old picuters I found many years ago about the Laplace location. Even included some franchise documents.
I think this is the one that used to be on Airline in Metairie by EJ high school. Note the old car parked down the street.
Lot's of interesting stuff about the LaPlace Frostop HERE.

This the Teds Frosttop?
The one that's closing moved to Clearview from Jefferson Highway in Harahan near the old Colonial Country Club. It may have been originally one of Ted's. The one in Destrehan moved there from Jefferson Highway near Ochsner. It was a Ted's before it moved. I know this because I had a client that worked there. She told me Ted himself taught her to mix a little of the Lot-a-Burger sauce into the lettece when making the Lot-a-Burger. Lot-a-Burger sauce is 3 parts of mayo to 1 part yellow mustard.
I think the first hamburger I ever ate was at a Frostop that was on the corner of Veterans and Severn. I was about 5. Back then, the Frostop franchisor was still in business, so Frostops were all pretty much the same.

Rat - When I cooked burgers at T-Willies Frostop The Butter Burger was $0.30 and The Lot=O-Burger was $0.49. Cheese was $0.05 more. Small rootbeer was 10 cents and large 15 cents. Fries were .25 cents. As an employee, My Food was half off. Police and firemen could eat, with their families for half off.
