I just saw on Facebook, a woman posted that her son is going to fry their turkey in Bacon Up. He ordered a 21 lb container from Wally World. Has anyone here fried one in bacon grease?

I thought I had a lot of bacon grease in my fridge with three mason jars. Never even considered frying a turkey with it. I will need to up my breakfast game for next Thanksgiving.

Damn! Wonder how much 21lbs is equal to. I usually get 2-3 gallons when I cook down 60lbs of fat for cracklings.

Don't know but it says it fills a 3 gallon fryer.

I understand if you had a bunch of bacon grease around, but this just seems like trying too hard to be extra.

You can also buy regular lard in buckets, especially in stores that cater to Hispanics. Might be a little cheaper.

I’ve done lard a few times. Fries a good turkey. Clean up is a little tougher than peanut oil since it turns back into a solid. They sell it at Walmarks fwiw.

That's 2.75 gallons. 7.65 pounds of oil per gallon.
