This is (allegedly) the recipe for Miss Myra's white sauce, here in Bham.
MISS MYRA BAR-B-Q'S WHITE SAUCE
2 quarts heavy-duty mayonnaise
1 quart white vinegar
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons black pepper (fresh cracked preferred)
Depending on where you are, Bob Gibson's sauce is sold in most big chain grocery stores. You can also buy it onlne. I like Miss Myra's better though.

My go to. I have made a lot of believers with this recipe. It is amazing with any smoked meat except beef, IMO. It is especially good with smoked chicken and smoked sausage.
2 cups mayo
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup prepared horseradish
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp black pepper
2 tsp yellow mustard
1 tsp kosher salt
2 cups mayo
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup prepared horseradish
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp black pepper
2 tsp yellow mustard
1 tsp kosher salt

I just put some Duke's mayo in a bowl and add apple cider vinegar equal to about 1/4 of that mayo. Then add a lot of freshly ground black pepper. Mix together and adjust to taste. Add salt if needed, maybe worchestershire, horseradish, and a bit of lemon.

Direct from the cookbook
I add sugar to mine, maybe 1 tablespoon.

The white sauce works well as a salad dressing too. I could see a derivation of it in cole slaw, but I have never tried it.

This is exactly what I do and guests seem to love it.
I use this recipe:
1 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
3 teaspoon water
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce

Strikes me as the only thing it MIGHT BE useful for.

Gotta have apple cider vinegar. Normal vinegar aint the ticket.

Sounds really good. Do you ever add diced dill pickles?

I use Nash’s Recipe. Google House of Nash Eats White Alabama BBQ Sauce. It’s great.

Is white sauce used a marinade or a dip?

It's used as a barbecue sauce. It began by taking bbq chicken and dipping the whole chicken pieces into the sauce before serving.

I don't...I think the vinegar adds enough zing. But wouldn't hurt to try it if you'd like.

Here is my coleslaw recipe. It would go good on pork as well.
1/2 cup blue plate
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
2.5 tablespoons lemon juice
1.5 tablespoons white vinegar
Pinch of coarse sea salt
1 tablespoons cracked black pepper
Couple dashes of garlic powder
1/4 cup milk
Whisk and refrigerate for an hour

I was about to be negative because I thought you were talking about that thick white flour sauce.
I would definitely try the white bbq sauce
Bob Gibsons looks good

The secret to any uncooked sauce is to give it time in the fridge for the flavors to come together and mellow out. The recipe that I gave above is on point but if you mix it and immediately try to taste it, it will be extremely sharp and mildly unpleasant. Once it sits in the fridge overnight, the flavor mellows out and it is bright and crisp.
Also, if you serve it to guests, call it a white bbq sauce and compare it to ranch or a sour cream based sauce. A lot of people will immediately turn their nose up to it if you lead off with mayonnaise as the first ingredient to a bbq sauce.

This. Plus i add Worcestershire and a little hot sauce.

The original recipe that I had called for white pepper instead of black, and 1 tsp cayenne. I found with those peppers and the horseradish, it was a little too hot for Cenla folks and kids. Plus, the black specks give it a little color/character and is slightly more visibly appetizing to me.
