Heading to the redneck riviera tomorrow. So far we have dinner at Cobalt and lunch at The Gulf picked out.

Fisher’s is good. Voyagers as well.

Jessie’s in Magnolia Springs is worth the drive

Damn that menu looks fantastic.
I'll have the ribeye with the smoked bone marrow butter and topped with foie gras please.
Please pray for my arteries.

Go to Lartigue's Seafood and get some fresh steamed and seasoned seafood.
Shrimp, scallops, corn and potatoes all fresh steamed and seasoned. It is very good.
Latigue's Seafood

Momma Lotties pizza is a must for the kids when we visit every Labor Day. Have to admit, it's a pretty damn good pie.

We went about a month ago and tried a couple of new places we really liked. Anchor Bar and Grill in Orange Beach... really small menu but the food was good. Nice view over looking the back bay. We also tried Picnic Beach in Gulf Shores... It was pretty good as well.

Wolf Bay, King Neptunes and Fisherman's Corner a short drive toward Pensacola under the Intercoastal Canal Bridge. I believe the owner is from Louisiana.

Meh, we try to hit up Bahama Bob’s every time we go. Place is quirky, but it’s real.
Have to go to Blalock’s on the way down for some steamed shrimp.

going with another couple and they chose it.

Meh, I don't eat at any place that hypes Pangus/Swai as a special to take advantage of tourists who don't know any better. There's no excuse for any restaurant on the gulf to be serving fish from Vietnam.

K. If they’re hyping a fish you don’t like then don’t order it. Whitefish is something I don’t eat, but it’s not underhanded to label a fish as such. It’s the cheapest fish on the menu...and $15 for grilled fish, rice/potatoes, and a veggie is goddamn cheap (you will not find much, if anything, within $10 of that even here in BSL) so I’m not sure anyone is getting taken advantage of.
The place is cool, to me, so I recommended it. I enjoy the grilled scallops, and they cook them to temp.

Honestly, I don't think any of the restaurants in the GS/OB area are really worth the prices they charge. Used to think Fisher's was, but our last meal was one of the most underwhelming meals I've had at that price point in years. And this opinion was shared by all 4 at the table, all ordered different dishes.
I really like The Gulf for lunch. Never been for dinner, but I'm sure it's fine if not maybe more crowded.
Big Fish isn't horrible either, but overpriced. But it's a tourist town so I guess everything is going to be overpriced.

The Flying Harpoon 2 in Orange Beach. The place is plain looking on the outside...but the food is very good on the inside.

Big Fish is excellent and consistent which is why we go every year. The Gulf is meh for food....but their location is excellent for drinks.

Anchor Bar on the back bay was really good. Got the wagyu burger and kids got Cubans. Doc’s seafood shack had really good fried shrimp, oysters and fish. They claim to have the best fried shrimp in the entire civilized world so I figured it would be overrated. Turned out to be pretty good.

Our Favorite spot was Playa. Second favorite was Fishers Upstairs. Both much better and much less crowded than Cobalt.

We live here! What are you in the mood for?
My personal favorite is Cosmo's in Orange Beach. Awesome beer and drinks. The menu is delicious and has a little bit of everything so it’s great for large parties. If there’s a wait you can order drinks and appetizers at the bar outside. Surrounding the bar on the patio are two shops. A craft beer/wine shop, and a dog and cat theme gift shop. Well behaved dogs are welcome on the patio and they provide water bowls/treats.
ETA: Lots of good recommendations in this thread already. Anchor Bar and Grill and Jesse’s for sure!

Did anything new open where Lester's/Hogfish Grille used to be?
