I just put eggs in cold water. Bring to a boil. Cover and turn off heat. Let sit for about 12 or 13 minutes. Pour off hot water. Run eggs under cool water and start peeling.

Gently lower the eggs into a pot of rapidly boiling water, reduce heat to a low simmer, cover, and cook for 10 min. Drain the cooking water, shake the pan to crack the eggshells slightly, then drop the eggs into an ice-water bath for 10 min. to cool and dissipate the sulfur. Peel under running water.

Place cold from fridge into hot steamer basket and steam for 10 minutes. Remove from pot and into ice bath. Peel and eat.

start i n cold water. bring to boil. turn off heat, cover, and pull out 3-15 minutes later, depending on how runny you want yolk.

What's your issue? You getting those green yolks? That shite is gross.
I always put them in cold water then pull them once it boils. Let it soak, hit them with cold water, then peel under running water. 60% of the time it works every time.

This.
And if you want to try to mess around and go for a soft-boil egg it's a great method to use too.

If they always turn out like shite, it could be the type of eggs or how fresh they are rather than how you boil them

This is the way to do it. I learned it from my mom after constantly screwing them up

This is what I do.
I always have more luck with older eggs. I tried a few times to boil fresh yard eggs and it was a disaster.

I boil mine for about 5 minutes first....and I don't cover.

1) Put eggs in pot full of water
2) Bring said pot to a complete rolling boil
3) Once there, cut off the heat completely
4) Let eggs sit on burner with no heat, covered, for 8 - 10 minutes
5) Once timer goes off, put eggs into a large bowl filled with ice and water
6) Let sit for 1 minute in ice water
7) Peel and enjoy

I don't hard boil eggs anymore. I set my immersion circulator for about 160, put the eggs in, and walk away for a half hour.

If you don't have an immersion circulator, I would suggest Alton Brown's baked eggs...come out perfect everytime and you can make a ton of them at once:
