I got a set of Mignon Faget Tiger glasses for Christmas from my SIL. Good looking glasses.

If you're an oil field baw, I recommend the WTI glass.

The Sagrada glasses from Cornet are nice. Handmade in Spain. Usually a waitlist though.

Glencairn or a very close variation of a Glencairn.

This set of Waterford Lismore crystal are a thing of beauty but I'd be sick if/when I busted a $100 glass.

I went with these Glencairn @$35 glass. Thanks for all the great recommendations. Cheers!

This is what we have for whiskey/cocktail glasses and they are nice. I enjoy using them.

I like my Norlan Whisky Glasses. They are basically a glencairn but double wall insulated.

My personal preference is to get something that means something to me. I have a set of Cannon Beach, OR glasses, because I spent a bit of time there while living in Oregon.

Another route to go would be to find something unusual that is a conversation piece.

Make sure they are practical. If the opening at the top is too small, you may not be able to add one of those cube or spherical extra large ice cube, if you decide to use one. I've had that problem, before. A glass with a stem may break easily.

You can find high quality glasses for cheap at at estate sales, thrift shops, TJ Maxx, etc, but I would wait for something that really spoke to me before buying just the first good deal I came across.

I use these for "casual" drinking

If I'm trying something for the first time or a blind I will use a Glencairn

I do want to try out some of the different variations of a stemmed Copita though.

you might be right there, and I hate those giant cubes even more.

This is what giant ice cubes look like to me:
