I tried every sandwich at Augusta National and here is my report

Dedicated to the currently missing peach ice cream sandwich. Still #1 in our hearts
I tried every sandwich on sale at the course (a few bites). I did not add any condiments because I wanted to see how each sandwich could stand on its own. Here we go, the rankings:
9 - Classic Chicken : This is a somewhat flat piece of fried chicken meat between 2 slices of bread. Dry sandwich and easily the last place pick. This sandwich really needs condiments, but that is outside of my rules here. $3.00
8 - Egg Salad: The egg salad recipe changed again and this perennial favorite of mine is near the bottom of the list because I remember how good it used to be. The egg chunks are larger than before for whatever reason and the consistency of the egg salad is now all out of whack. This one makes me sad. $1.50
7 - Masters Club: Do you like bacon and lettuce and tomato on your club? Look elsewhere. This is ham and cheese in a hamburger bun with some honey mustard type sauce. It is a tasty sandwich, but it ain’t no club IMO. $3.00
6 - Chicken Salad: The chicken salad has a nice flavor. The problem is that there isn’t enough of it between the large pieces of the brioche bun and it ends up feeling like mostly bread. I had high hopes for this one but there simply isn’t enough chicken salad. $3.00
5 - Pimento cheese: Tasty, but average for a pimento cheese sandwich. It might be that knowing it isn’t the original recipe is shading my thoughts (the older recipe seemed to be more of a smooth consistency). Get one to say that you did, and then move on. $1.50
4 - Breakfast sandwich: New for this year, the breakfast sandwich is sausage, bacon, cheese, and a fried egg between a bun. I liked it, reminded me of a good bacon egg and cheese but with a sausage patty. Solid choice for an early meal on the course and great jolt of cholesterol. $3.00
3 - Chicken biscuit: To be fair, I like just about any chicken biscuit. I was pleasantly surprised by this one after the disappointment of the classic chicken sandwich. Good flavor in the fried chicken, biscuit was just buttery enough and a little bit greasy. Very good, even without condiments (a dollop of yellow mustard would have sent this one into orbit). Do recommend. $2.00
2 - BBQ: I admit in all the years that I have been out to the course I have never tried the BBQ sandwich. What a treat! Juicy pork with a good smoke flavor and a tasty sauce between a nicely matched bun. You could stick with this sandwich on all your visits and be doing just fine and almost be having the best sandwich on the course. The only problem with that plan is that you would miss the best of them all right now which is the...
$3.00
1 - Ham and Cheese on Rye: A perfect amount of flavorful ham with a slice of sharp processed cheese with some honey mustard type stuff laying between 2 slices of rye bread. I don’t know all the details. What I do know is it delicious for such a simple sandwich and goes down easy with draft beer. $3.00
Until next year

I know the food there is known for being ridiculously cheap for a sporting event. Are they showing any effects of the recent national inflation?

I suspect the change to the egg salad was to keep the sandwich at $1.50 each, but that is only speculation on my part.

This may be the single greatest humble brag thread on this board. People have discussed their meals at The French Laundry, el bulli, etc… but a sandwich review at The Masters? Well done madam/sir.

I’ve been 5 times and my only change to your lineup would be swap bbq sandwich and ham and cheese
Also technically the Georgia peach ice cream sandwich is a sandwich so that deserves a ranking. I’d say 5

I think it’s tremendous.

The chicken salad and pimento cheese are both better than the BBQ sandwich. Plus, you’re telling me you at the ham and cheese without mayo? List is shite

Now he’s downvoting y’all

Same. If you’re doing something cool, PLEASE brag about it so we can live vicariously.
