Indianapolis-based Juicy Seafood coming to College Drive

From today's Baton Rouge Business Report:
I'm so confused. So an Indianapolis based company is going to come to Baton Rouge and cook cajun seafood? That should go over well.

A restaurant called Juicy Seafood is coming to College Drive, with plans to open its doors in May. The Cajun seafood concept is moving into a 10,000-square-foot suite in the Village Square Shopping Center on College, near Office Depot.

I saw that as well. When I read the article, it reminds me of another Fiery Crab. At least they aren't opening in Lafayette or New Orleans. Maybe Baton Rouge is a test market for them? It doesn't make sense to me either with all the good mom-and-pop restaurant we have to choose from.

Do these restaurants really think they can corner the market on seafood in south LA?
The menu looks terrible

It's not actual "Cajun" style seafood. It's what these people have been PROMOTING as "Cajun" all over the Country when it's just a bunch of fraudulent bullsh!t.
There's a thousand places like this all over Atlanta. They steam or boil the seafood in unseasoned water and then toss in a bullsh!t sauce of Parkay, Old Bay, Garlic, and Lemon Pepper with some red pepper depending on how hot they want it ... then tell people it's "Cajun."
If people like it and want to pay really high prices for it, good for them. But what burns my @ss is when they put that crap forward as "Cajun/Creole/Louisiana/New Orleans" style cuisine.
There were some Asian folks who came out here to Atlanta from Louisiana and set up shop doing seafood the legit way, and in order to survive they had to start doing the same garlic butter sauce bulls!t that all of the frauds are doing because the locals would walk in looking for it and then argue with them saying THEY were the ones who weren't authentic because they had never heard of Cajun seafood without the sauce.
The fact that this is the second place like that making a move into BR ...

I live in Indianapolis and have never been. Maybe I'll go just to report about what you can expect...

Looks like corn and crab bisque? with rice?

The bulk of their business is crab legs. It is big with a certain demographic just like Fiery Crab and Krab Queenz in BR

Ok, I just wet myself a little bit laughing at that one.

I will never understand this thought process. "Hmmmm. Six restaurants in a row have failed at this spot but mine will do great!"

What is this new trend of pouring all kinds of stuff all over the seafood that looks like Italian dressing and/or some sort of oil? I see it all over these days. Is that good? It doesn't look appetizing to me.

There's a national perception that "cajun food" means "incredibly strong overpowering taste bud numbing flavor". A lot of places mimic that with coating it in these sauces or oils or melted seasoned butters.
It's not always bad, but it's not authentic, if that's what your looking for.
