I've lived in Baton Rouge for 14 years and never think to eat here. It looks like it gets great reviews. Is it worth a trip for seafood or should I skip it? It's there something they do better than other seafood restaurants in Baton Rouge? A specialty dish? TIA

I don’t think you’d be disappointed. Give it a shot. Have only eaten seafood there though

It’s one of the top 3 best seafood restaurants in BR.

Fish in paper is their best dish or what they are known for.

I like their BBQ Pineapple Shrimp as an appetizer.

They serve a good steak as well with shrimp and crab set under a garlic buerre blanc sauce.

As an earlier poster said, you better get there no later than 6 if you plan on eating there. Unless you have no problem waiting an hour and a half. I recommend The Tournedos. They are phenomenal

All of it is good and we go about once a month. They do fish very well.

But I’ve found if you wait until 7:30 or later it is very little wait if any at all. It’s a crush before that and they don’t take reservations.

Its good, but fairly run of the mill - is my opinion. Its worth visiting in Baton Rouge because the restaurant scene is overall lackluster, but I never leave thinking “wow I must come back here soon”

Thanks for comments everyone. Is it of a Jubans/Mansurs caliber or more of a Roberto's vibe?

You really should get there when they open. We went on a weekday and got there at 5. They put everyone in the bar area as they finished preparing the dining room. Right at 5 they began seating and by 5:30 they were on a wait.

The fish in a bag is awesome. Papillote. I love it and haven’t seen it anywhere else really.

Big fan of LA Lagniappe.

I enjoy the wait and having a drink, etc. It’s not bad at all if you’re expecting it going in.

They fry oysters better than anyone else in BR. Ask them to put some fried oysters on your salad.

The stuffed bell peppers are very good, as are most of the fish dishes that I have tried.

I am usually very pleased, but have been underwhelmed once or twice.

I am not in love with their stuffed baked potato. My wife's is much better.

Get the oysters lagniappe for an appetizer. It is probably the best oyster dish ive ever eaten. Im gonna poorly elaborate and say it is like chicken parm but with oysters instead. But idk what magic they do.

I've had them both. You really can't go wrong either way. If you're really hungry, though, I will say that the fish papillote was more filling.
