Lunch near Audubon Zoo

Greetings all, I’m interested to know if there are any worthwhile lunch spots near Audubon Zoo that would accommodate multiple adults and a 1year old child. Our plan is to tour the zoo after lunch. Any and all suggestions are welcomed. Thank you!

Friend,
Bistro Daisy is delicious, but I have never seen an infant dining there. The Audubon Clubhouse is okay. Guy’s is the best poorboy nearby, far exceeding Domilese’s, which is another, if inferior, option. We used to like Tartine and Toast until they decided to promote a cause to which we are morally opposed. Food at the zoo is okay. A little closer to town is New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood which is a solid and safe option. Their thin cut fried catfish is better than Middendorf’s. It might be the most kid friendly of the options listed here. If Whole Foods has their world famous New Orleans smoked burger, I would go there without any delay. Call the butcher and see if it is available. If it is not and you want a burger, I would then go to Houston’s, even if it is about ten minutes from the zoo.
Yours,

Good place, but do they open for lunch? Clancy's opens a couple of days for lunch I think. Maybe Thursday and Friday. Saba is good. Agree with Guy's on po boys, but is their dining room open? Last time I was there it was carry out.

Thanks for the suggestions. We plan on going two weekends from now once the weather gets back to a more comfortable level.

We usually end up at Pizza Domenica after the zoo. Generally the group is 4 adults and 2-4 kids. Always works out great.

+1 on Pizza Domenica, Guy's, Tartine, and Toast as being kid-friendly and worth a visit.
Also consider the student-centric Luca Eats on Cohn, if it's nice enough to sit outside. It's out of the way, but has pretty tasty food.
St James Cheese has limited seating, though if the weather was fine, you can easily order takeout and have a picnic at the Fly.

High Hat Cafe on Freret St. is not far away. It has great food all freshly prepared at reasonable prices. The daily specials are good. The hamburgers are awesome. It's very kid friendly with kids menu. There's a big free parking lot right across the street.

If the quarter is within range, Johnny's Poboys is very worthwhile.
