I'm not really a "smoothie guy" - I'd usually prefer to get my calories from "real food", but since I've had this flu for the past week I have been drinking smoothies.

Smoothie King's is like $5.50 after tax and it's good, but McDonald's is only $3.00 after tax and it tastes just as good to me. It looks like McDonald's uses fresh bananas and although they don't have shite like wheat germ and papaya in there, it seems like a much better bang for your buck IMHO.

Any other opinions?

I suspect the difference is in the quality of ingredients.

I'd like to do a side by side taste test.

I saw something in my gym that showed the McDonald's smoothies had a bunch of calories and fat.

You should see what smoothie king has to pay for those ingredients.

The ones I make at home have one cup of soy milk(90 cals), 1 banana(averages to 100 cals), and any other combo of fruit I want to get it to around 300 cals total

Looking at their website, a large(22 oz.) strawberry banana is 330 calories, 1 g of fat, 70 g of sugar. That's not really bad at all. A 20 oz. strawberry from Smoothie king is 376, 0, 70, so basically the same.

It's my thinking that with a smoothie, calories aren't necessarily the enemy, so long as there's lots of protein (or whatever health benefit you're looking for).

Of course, I'm a brain washed idiot who thinks that there's such thing as "super caffeine" in a Pep Upper smoothie, or special anti-oxidants in their Immune Builder smoothie, so I'll keep throwing my money away at Smoothie King.

I refuse to eat at smoothie king after I ordered a medium, and they gave it to me a cup which they didn't fill up.....and they had left over smoothie in the blender.

I was like WTF? I don't get a full cup, you have extra, and you won't fill mine up?

I avoid jamba juice cause they use chinese fruit.
