I have a good bit of smoke coming from my hopper where my pellets are. I’ve had it for two years and haven’t really seen it do it like this before. This happen to anyone else before? Is there anything I need to do to fix it?

Have you cleaned out the firebox recently?

Is it doing when you run on high heat? If I run high heat I always back he down to 250 or so and let it settle before shutting it down.

Tyga what do you mean by fire box?
Had it on 300 earlier and noticed it. Cranked it up this evening and it was doing it at 250.
I clean and vacuum out the “pit” pretty often. I’ve never vacuumed anything from the hopper though, as it always has pellets in it

Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to take the pellets out of the hopper and vac out the dust in the bottom and try to get what you can out of the auger.

What kinda pellets do to you use?

Usually just whatever. Here lately I’ve been using pitboss pellets because my grocery store up the road has them.

Clear the buildup out of the vents on the lid of your pit, and of course, vacuum out the firepot.

Where the actual fire takes place.

Might look like this.

May not be causing your problem but wouldn’t hurt to vacuum it out.

As offshoreangler said, clean out the vents in the lid. I had your exact problem with my bullseye and clearing those vents did the trick. Try to see light through them, I bet you can’t.

Same here. My bullseye kept back burning up the auger tube. Cleaned the vents out and no issues since.

I used a thin putty knife. Worked great.

This happens for one of two reasons:

1. The vents on the back side are carboned up; use a wire brush and get them seeing daylight,

2. When you shut it off, the auger pushed pellets onto ash and when restarted it backed into firebox.

If you have the firepot clean a blower over it works well.

OP what model do you have? I have the Bullseye and when mine starts smoking out of the hopper it means the vents on the lid need cleaning. I take the lid off and pressure wash it.
