This article (specifically the third feature) just reminded me that they had opened on Government: LINK

Have any of our board BBQ aficionados been yet? I've seen a few positive posts on social media, but not necessarily by people who I would trust implicitly. I'd be more likely to show up on a lark if it weren't so fricking hot, but as is, I'd like to make sure it's worth it

I really, really hate how shitty TD's search functionality is...

Thank you

I wanted to go this past weekend but was unsure of how the lines were. I didn't want to stand in the brutal heat and wait. Went to Smoke Bayou and still waited about 1 hour... at least it was inside.

go into the URL in your browser and type tigerdroppings.com "what you are searching for" and hit enter. remove the " " unless you want a precise search.

Went Saturday. Got there right at 11 and was #13 in line, took about 30 minutes to order and get food. Brisket, while not as good as any of the Texas places I’ve been, was better than any I remember eating in Baton Rouge. Pulled pork and burnt ends were average at best. Baked beans were below average and the potato salad was fine. $47 with tax and tip for enough food for 2 people.
It’s not as good as I was hoping for but its a good option when comparing it to other BR bbq places.

tried first time Friday and got there around 12:30 or so and no line or wait

had the chicken, brisket and sausage with two sides mac and cheese and the banana pudding, we had two meals out of it

it's as close to the texas style places that I've had in this area

will definitely go back and want to try some of the other things on the menu, ribs for sure

the banana pudding was so good for desert

they need to up the sauce game even if you use something not in house

It was okay. Not worth the price or hype. Unfortunately, Baton Rouge continues to be an endless abyss of mediocre BBQ.

Went to Offset today for first time, was great, will be back:
Brisket - 9/10
Pulled pork - 9/10
Original sausage link - 8/10
Mac n cheese - 8.5/10
Baked beans - 7/10

Really enjoyed the meats we tried, will try the other options next time. Easily the best BBQ in BTR right now.

I completely disagree with this.

The point brisket was well seasoned and had a good smoke. The asian sausage was excellent. Glock and I shared some jalapeño sausage like old times and it was not dry at all. The greens were excellent. The mac n cheese was just okay. When mac n cheese is not up to par I just use the house bbq sauce to spice it up. Their bbq sauce is good stuff.

Ate there a few weeks ago. I thought the meats were all excellent. Some of the best brisket I've had outside of Texas. Honestly everything was delicious.

The sides were pretty average to below average. I know the star will be the meat, but the sides could and should be better. I sampled them all and most either tasted store bought or were very mid.

That said, would 10/10 recommend their meats and the owners are super friendly.

Just went today for lunch.

Brisket was good, not great. I thought the burnt ends were outstanding, the sides were basic as can be.

This is pretty easily the best bbq we have in town. People were also very friendly. They’re doing it right, but it is pretty dang expensive.

I’ll be back to try the ribs at some point.

Everything is more expensive now.. I think prepared food is top of the list.

I had some of their brisket and burnt ends last week. I agree with you.

I tried it, the lean brisket still needed fat trimmed, but was with solid smoke flavor, the ribs a lil fatty but seasoned and smoked well, the sides were meh, the bbq sauces not good. At $27 for the plate, I was missing my regular trip to Hannah Q down the street for similar quality plus more portion at the same price.

Decent, but in no hurry to return. Yet, with BR's lackluster BBQ scene, happy to have some new quality pitmasters.

I think BBQ being cheap these days is a big misconception. Brisket ain’t cheap and between trimming and smoking they probably have 15+ hours into it before it’s ready to serve. It has to be rough to make money selling BBQ in LA.

But I’ve had offset a few times now, and outside of Gonzo’s it’s definitely the best I’ve had in LA. The sides could use work but the meat has been very good

Hannah Q is nowhere close to the same quality.

It’s not in the same league.

Offset reminds me of my days in Horseshoe Bay, and many trips to Cooper's in Llano. Just buy the meats by the pound, because you're gonna need to chase down your sides and sauces elsewhere, or make your own.
