Based on what the waitress is wearing it seems they shouldn’t have a problem with the customers dress

She might have been a pain in the arse on previous visits and they were looking for a reason not to have to deal with her.

Since the advocate is behind a paywall here are some excerpts:

quote:

On Tuesday, Facebook user Miney M Mac posted a series of videos from Stab's Prime Steak and Seafood in Baton Rouge, where she was turned away because of a new dress code policy. The user also goes by the name, Y'Mine McClanahan.
quote:

Mac goes on to ask Murvin for an explanation for her video as to why she was being ejected from the restaurant. Murvin explained that Stab's has "buckled down on the dress code." Mac goes on to inquire about the wait staff's attire, which is crop top with short shorts.

Stab’s Response:
quote:

In the videos posted to Facebook, co-owner Dori Murvin said the reason the woman was asked to leave was because the outfit was "just too revealing at the top."

"We have a dress code policy that we ask our customers to observe. A few times a month we speak with our guests about their attire including asking them to remove baseball hats in our restaurant. Contrary to reports our attire policy is not new, it has been in affect for over three years now. We spoke with a guest yesterday about her attire and she pointed out that we have waitstaff dressed in a manner that might not meet the standard of our attire policy. For the last several weeks we have actually been working on a different uniform so that we are not asking a different standard for our customers than we are requiring of our staff."

Yup - bad call given the waitresses' attire.

The woman who was denied service is the vice president of the Baton Rouge branch of the NAACP.

And based on Facebook and Google, it looks like her grandpa is the state president of the NAACP.

Honestly I don't really see the problem with what she's wearing considering what I see other women wear these days

Of course I don't know the whole story behind this and if their is a history they are failing to disclose in the article

Yeah, there has to be more to the story because that dress in the video is a fairly harmless strapless sundress. She appears to be chesty so you'll see more of that due to how she's built, but she certainly doesn't seem to have intentionally chosen a skanky outfit.

And the waitress's attire damn sure doesn't help I see Leo decided to bring the Sullivan's uniform with him to Stab's. Pretty sure last time I went there, the servers were in long sleeve oxford shirts and pants.

Crazy what is considered "news" these days.

With all that is going on in this region, a dress code violation is "news."

Reporters need to spend more time updating murder investigations, crime deterrent issues or something that impacts the community.

I feel her 2 piece is borderline inappropriate, but nothing terribly bad. I don't think I can claim it's certified inappropriate, maybe more common sense inappropriate.

Restaurants need clear dress policies to avoid this issue. If they had a clearly stated policy, then I'm on their side. If they didn't, then I am on the customer's side.

I think it's stupid for a restaurant to refuse business and drive a customer away over that, even if she probably shouldn't wear it. And that waitress looks terrible. I've never been impressed with Stabs, I've always felt they were pretending to be a nice restaurant and always felt they were faking it in service, food, and atmosphere.

And I think the worst is seeing grown arse men wearing hats while dining in a restaurant with table service, especially any white table restaurant. If you have a server, take your damn hat off. If you have a white table cloth restaurant, don't even walk in with your hat. There is no excuse for any grown man to not understand this.

What do you think is the most likely scenario in this case?

Women walks into restaurant with a top that is easily pulled down to reveal the majority of her breast and does so. Manager says inappropriate and ask her to cover up. Women goes outside, pulls up top and begins filming it. Race card get pulled. Extorts the restaurant for $$ and profits.

Or

Restaurant that has a decent African American clientele decides because they are racist to deny random African American women service even though it will cause a shite storm and cost the business $$.

Her tipping and complaining history from her previous visits is directly connected to her being denied.
