I'm making the Paul Prudhomme recipe for Sweet Potato Pecan Pie.

I have three cans of Pumpkin though. Should I go buy some sweet potatoes and bake them, or is pumpkin okay here?

Sweet potato. There is no debate.

However, that said, I roasted the Halloween punkin and puréed. I have to say, I could eat that shite with a spoon. Very different from the can

I'm overseas this year, but my family normally does both brown sugar sweet potatoes in orange halves (some plain, some topped with pecans, some topped with marshmallows, some topped with pecans and marshmallows) and pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving.

I prefer pumpkin. Sweet potato always seems too sweet.

I much prefer sweet potato pie to pumpkin, but I don't care for sweet potato casserole. I don't want something that sweet alongside the meal itself, though everyone else in my family always did.

My finished sweet potato pecan pie. Has a 1" layer of sweet potato mix and a 1" layer of pecan pie mix on top. Homemade dough. Not as thick on the crust as it appears. That's a top roll. The crust is normal 1/8" - 3/16" thickness otherwise when I put in the springform pan.

Serving with Chantilly whipped cream (brandy and Grand Marnier and sour cream with sugar, heavy cream and vanilla)
