We absolutely love hearing we have so many fans in Baton Rouge. Whataburger’s always looking to provide something fresh for our customers, but a lot goes into deciding where and when a new restaurant will be built. We don’t have any information to share at this time and we encourage fans to follow us on our social channels for any updates.
That's not exactly a denial

Exactly. They bought the land for almost $2 million. They're just not ready to say anything quite yet.

Texas-based Whataburger has purchased a tract of land near the busy Burbank Drive-Ben Hur intersection for nearly $2 million.
Whataburger Real Estate LLC bought the 1.8-acre tract land from Burtelle LLC in a deal that was filed Friday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office. Burtelle is a Metairie-based group controlled by some of the heirs of the late local auto dealer Price LeBlanc.
Whataburger is the latest restaurant to buy land or lease property in the Burbank Drive-Ben Hur area. Rotolo’s Craft & Crust and Chick-fil-A have opened in the area, while Atomic Burger, Dat Dog, Jabby's Pizza, FinBomb and Sombrero's also are planning to open restaurants in the next few months. A Rouses-anchored shopping center is also under construction.
In a statement sent to The Advocate on Tuesday, Whataburger officials said it was too soon to say when and if the restaurant will open. "Whataburger’s always looking to provide something fresh for our customers, but a lot goes into deciding where and when a new restaurant will be built," the company said.
This would be the third Whataburger in metro Baton Rouge, joining a location on Siegen Lane and one on Airline Highway in Gonzales.
Whataburger has 15 locations in Louisiana, including Shreveport, Lafayette and Monroe.
There are no locations in New Orleans.

I suppose they could end up evaluating the site and the nearby competition and decide to sell the tract rather than build.

Some of their specialty burgers and combos have a week's worth of fat and sodium.
But still worth it!

It’s the 3rd best restaurant in Monroe.
