What is Aldi going to do with the huge Winn-Dixie locations?

Watching the Winn-Dixie in Prairieville dwindle down, I don't understand what Aldi will do with such a large store? The two Aldi's I've been in were about the size of a Walgreens... maybe. They are a fraction of the size of the Winn-Dixie stores. Less than half.

Are they going to remodel and sublease space? New, larger full grocery model?

ETA:
the Prairieville location is 61,834 square feet.
the average Aldi is 18,000 square feet

they carve out a space they regularly use and lease the remaining space.

I've been wondering the same thing since I heard that, unless they just continue to run them under the Winn Dixie name, and leverage the saving they have with their distribution to make them more profitable.

That's a lot of people waiting in line to ultimately learn everything is NOT a dollar

The wife will go to Aldi just for this bread. It is pretty good, I have to admit.

Good question.

Prairieville location

one of the managers told us before labor day that they were not ordering anything else.

they were having one last sale for Labor Day and were just going to sell whatever they had. when it's gone, they're gone.

They are keeping some Winn-Dixie’s open. I believe if there isn’t an Aldi nearby then they are converting. If they have an Aldi near the Winn-Dixie then they are keeping the Winn-Dixie (like the one on Siegen).

I'm not super impressed by Aldi and don't really get the hype. Must just be the trendy new thing.

Winn Dixie in Hammond will remain, but the Amite location will be an Aldi.

Winn Dixie and Rouses are the only places that I will grocery shop.

Me neither, but I guess the prices are good. Compared to publix, aldi is like grocery shopping in moscow circa 1978.

Zachary Winn Dixie will close in November and reopen “several months” later as an Aldi per recent announcement

Rouses has to love the Aldi take over of WD. They aren't proving to be much competition.

The Aldi's I entered felt like the dollar store of groceries. It had all of the appeal of a Family Dollar. At least it didn't smell like bad seafood, like all of the Albertson's in Louisiana.

Winn-Dixie was never the best experience, but it was passable.
